We seek a Ruby on Rails developer to help build and maintain our website. The Ruby on Rails developer designs, executes, tests, documents, and maintains software for our applications. You should have a strong command of web development technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and an eye for detail. We’re looking for someone eager to grow their skills, contribute to a mission-driven team, and learn from experienced engineers.
Responsibilities:
Development & Infrastructure
Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Ruby on Rails and Postgres.
Collaborate with product and design teams to implement user-facing features using HTML/HAML, ERB, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript/CoffeeScript.
Collaborate in the implementation and performance optimization of front-end designs, including graphic optimizations.
Ensure frontend code implementations comply with ADA accessibility standards, utilizing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Document code, including code style guides.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while optimizing front-end performance for speed and reliability.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging to resolve issues promptly.
Assist in debugging and resolving application issues, with support from senior developers.
Collaborate with the development team in all aspects of the application development lifecycle.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining clean, efficient code alongside the development team.
Provide ongoing support, optimization, and maintenance for live systems.
Recommend documentation improvements and software development process standards.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Hands-on experience developing applications in Ruby on Rails, ideally with 1–2 years in a production or project-based environment.
Demonstrated familiarity with the Ruby on Rails ecosystem through coursework, internships, or professional experience.
Exposure to the consumer goods, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer (DTC) industry is a plus.
Technical Skills
Foundational proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
Working knowledge of HTML/ERB/HAML and SCSS for frontend development.
Understanding of responsive web design principles across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
Ability to create reusable design elements, markup, and basic stylesheet components.
Familiarity with optimizing web graphics for performance.
Experience working with JavaScript; exposure to CoffeeScript is a plus.
Basic experience using version control tools such as Git and GitHub.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 per year. The exact compensation will depend on the candidate's location, experience, skills, and other relevant factors and may vary from the posted range.
